Reunions and Midnight Special

Wooot- it’s almost summer!  As Memorial Day weekend approaches, so do all those things that go along with it.  Swim parties, high school graduations, amusement park end-of-the-school year trips.  And reunions.  Family reunions, that is.  I always picture them as a huge park with lots of room for kids to run, and so many people who might or might not be related sitting at picnic tables groaning under the weight of all the food.  The food part is always as interesting as the people.  I’ve discovered such culinary treats as jello with pretzels and Miracle Whip potato salad at reunions.  I’ve also discovered that the old lady I’m sitting next to talking up a storm with isn’t actually a part of the reunion, nor a part of the family.  But hey, she was fun to talk with!

Reunions are that time when you get a good look at your gene pool, for better or worse.  And even more fun are spouse reunions.  Oh, the discoveries I make at my husband’s family reunions!!!

I think reunions have a lot of potential for fun, for angst, for laughter and for drama.  Which is why I wanted to end Midnight Special with a reunion that not only introduced Marni to Hunter’s adopted family, but became a reunion of sorts for readers to see those characters they’d gotten to know in the Sex and Lies stories.  If you’d like to take a look at that reunion, you can check it out here.

So  –are you a fan of reunions?  Do you have any fun family get-togethers planned this summer?
