Will he be her happily ever after?
On leave from her job as a firefighter, Eboni Wynter is on a quest to reunite with her three long-lost sisters. She isn’t looking for romance…until she meets her off-the-charts-sexy neighbor. A major player on the Manhattan singles scene, real estate mogul Darren Grayson arouses a deep passion in Eboni.
Darren has never met anyone quite like Eboni. He’ll do whatever it takes to win her heart…if she’ll let him. But sooner or later, Eboni’s bound to discover the truth about Darren’s past, and his secret may come between them. Or will they discover the courage to stay together and find their own perfect ending?
Check out Wayne’s Quick Six answers below and answer his question for a chance to win a digital copy of his new book. Thank you Wayne, for hanging out with us!
Historical or Contemporary?
While I enjoy contemporary romance, Historical romance wins hands down. I have a preference for Western Historical romances. Sweet or sexy. I particular enjoy the inspiration westerns. The Harlequin Love Inspired Historical line definitely feeds my appetite for these stories since they release two or three of the genre each month. Cheryl St. John, Cheryl Reavis, Lyn Cote, Linda Ford and Renee Ryan are among my favorites. Of course, my all time favorites are THE RAINBOW PROMISE by Lisa Gregory, and MORNING GLORY and VOWS by LaVyrle Spencer. Despite my preference for westerns, I can’t forget Judith McNaught who has written some of the most incredible historical romance novels ever…ONCE AND AGAIN, KINGDOM OF DREAMS, SOMETHING WONDERFUL and WHITNEY, MY LOVE.
Romantic suspense or Romantic comedy?
Definitely Romantic Suspense. My favorite genre. I grew up reading The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and the mystery series by British author Enid Blyton. Romantic suspense combines my love for the mystery/suspense elements and romance. I’m a fan of the Harlequin Intrigue and Romantic Suspense lines and love the work of Linda Castillo, Karen Rose, Tami Hoag and Lisa Gregory.
Print or eBook?
I’m almost totally eBook, especially when it comes to my personal/leisure reading. I have an iPad and use the Kindle and Bluefire apps for most of my reading. Of course, I was one of those individuals who felt that I would always want the feel of a ‘print’ book in my hands. Now, I don’t even think of that. It’s really cool to be able to keep all my books and magazines in one place.
Crossword or Word Search?
I enjoy crosswords. They are definitely more challenging and I love a challenge. Word Searches are really not too much fun.
Reading or Writing?
This is a hard one. I love both and while I love writing, I prefer to read more; however, because I’m always on a deadline, reading, unfortunately, has to take second place. What I do enjoy…is that both allow me to escape into wonderful make believe worlds tinged with a bit of reality.
Country or Rock N Roll?
Give me country music any day! Narrow it down to my favorites and I’ll listened to the music of Darius Rucker all day. The beginning of 2013 could not have been better since he recently released his album. One of the things I love about country music is the storytelling elements. Tell me a good love story in music and I’m hooked.
My question to you: What do you think of men writing romance?
Wayne Jordan received the call just two days before Christmas in 2003. In November 2005, his debut novel, Capture the Sunrise, was released by BET/Arabesque as part of a special 2-in-1 volume entitled Slow Motion, along with prolific author Devon Vaughn Archer. Along with his career as a published author, Wayne is a high school teacher of literature, language arts and theatre arts. He’s a graduate of the University of the West Indies, and holds a B.A. in literature in linguistics and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. Wayne is the host of the Kimani area of the eharlequin.com Community and shares duties with another host in the Simply Series area.

Hi All:
Just got home from the day job (I’m a high school teacher). I want to thank Tawny and Cindy for having me here today. It’s a pleasure! Feel free to ask any question you want…I’ll be here for a bit.
Hello Wayne!
It is a pleasure to learn about you and your book! Love finding new to me authors to add to my romance reading! I do not care if an author is male or female… what I care about is if I enjoy the book I have in front of me. It is all about the journey the characters go through to find their chance at happiness…
Hi Wayne
Welcome to the Quick Six! Sorry to be late in the day giving you the whoohoo, but I’m still trying to figure out how this is Friday *g*
I love your answers- and am so right there with you on the preference for reading and never having enough time.
I think men writing romance is way awesome. Love isn’t defined by gender, so why should writing about it be? But now I’m curious -what kind of response do you usually get when people find out that you write romances?
And my second question would be, how glorious and wonderful is Barbados? *g*
Tawny:
I do get the ‘look’ at times, but not as often as when my first book came out. I think the look comes more because I’m a English teacher with a specialty in Literature and Linguistics. Of course, the literary snobs could not imagine why someone with my literary back background would want to write romance. I just ignore them and continue doing what I love to do. Fortunately, the attitude is not like it was when I first started. Of course, the non-academic individuals always thought it was awesome. In Barbados, I’m sort of famous. Oh, you write for Harlequin! Wow, that’s so cool.
That IS so cool, Wayne!! I wanna move to Barbados for more than just the gorgeous paradise now. Here, if I say I write for Harlequin (or write romance) I get one of those confused, ‘oh you poor thing’ looks more often than not. It’s bizarre
I’m so glad you see more acceptance in the literary circles for romance. And that you get less of the ‘look’ now *g*
Barbados…won’t trade it for anywhere else. I love my island paradise. I’m still amaze when readers consider the place I live to be somewhere exotic and exciting. I love the crystal waters of the ocean, the golden sands and the gentle tropical breeze. Need I say more.
The sex of a writer isn’t as important as the content of the story. Some of my favorite m/m writers are actually female. It’s the story and how the characters develop that drive the reading experience.
Carolyn: I am in total agreement. The sex of the authors doesn’t matter. However, the SEX does!
ROFL
Hi Wayne!!
I love country music too. I love me some Chris Young.
I think it’s great men write romance. It’s nice to get their point of view of romance. Plus if it’s a great book it shouldn’t matter if a woman or a man write.
I was never a real fan of country music. Yes, there was the occasional song, but then I fell in love with Darius Rucker and Blake Sheldon..so I’m a recent convert. Thanks for the recommendation. I’m definitely check Christ Young out.
And I do think it’s great that men can write romance too.
“It is a pleasure to learn about you and your book!
Colleen:
Thanks for dropping by. I love to find new authors too. I remember when my first book came out in November 2005 (Wow, so much time has passed. I’LL STAND BY YOU is my ninth), how excited and scared I was. So I always try my hardest to support new authors, since I know that feeling of vulnerability and uncertainty. Like you, I don’t care if the author is male or female…as long as the story touches me in some special way, I’ll keep on reading your work.
I love reading romance. It doesn’t matter if the author is female or male. I love finding new to me authors. Wayne, I’ll be checking out your books. I’ll Stand by You sounds like a great read.
Stephanie: I, too, love reading romance. Always did and while there were not many male authors in the mid-70s when I started, I’ve discovered several male authors who work I enjoy. I write African-American romance and I know individuals who won’t touch a romance with AA lead characters. As you say, romance is not about who writes it, or for me, is it about the color of someone’s skin. It’s about loyalty, honesty, understanding and communicating….it’s about love.
I’ll be choosing the random poster tomorrow…so please look for the announcement.
