Quick Six with Alice Gaines
by Cindy • March 15, 2013 • Blog, Quick Six • 22 Comments
Woot!! Alice Gaines is visiting the Quick Six today. Alice is an awesome writer and she’s offering a fabulous prize today, print copies of her Cabin Fever novellas, Heat Rises, Storm Bound and Mating Season. What a great prize, right?! To have a chance to win all three books for yourself, respond in the comments section to Jean’s question!
Snowbound in a cabin…able to live out all her fantasies…
Laura Barber has dreamt of doing unspeakably delicious things with Ethan Gould for years. Now, stuck in a mountain cabin, she just might get her shot. Ethan offers her the chance to live out each and every one of those desires. They may be rivals in the business world, but in the bedroom they’re a perfect match. Knowing they have only a few days, Laura shakes off all her inhibitions. Every secret need, every lust-filled thought . . . it’s all fair game.
STORM BOUND
Stranded on a steamy tropical island,…these three will create their own heat…
Christie Lovejoy is normally all business. But when a hurricane bears down on the exclusive resort she’s sharing with two sexy businessmen, it’s time to throw caution to the tropical winds. How often do you find two gorgeous men with the hots for you…and the willingness to share?
MATING SEASON
Being stuck together in a redwood forest can really bring your inner animal out…
The last thing Gayle Richards wanted was to spend days alone in a cabin with Nolan Hersch, fellow professor and macho loudmouth. How could she observe the animals’ mating habits alongside a man who made her blood boil ….and not just in anger? The only thing more frustrating than Nolan’s opinions on male sexual superiority was how much he made her want to rip his clothes off.
Plotter or Pantzer?
Definitely a pantzer. When I try to plot ahead of time, I get bogged down because I don’t know what’s going to happen. If I try to force the plot in advance, I feel as if I’m making things up. Of course, writing is making things up. And of course, if you’re trying to sell the book to a publisher, they need to know what happens. I’d like to be a better plotter, but it’s not in my nature. On the other hand, I love discovering what happens along the way.
Historical or Contemporary?
I write contemporary for the most part, but my true love is historical. Think of Jane Eyre and Downton Abbey before the war set in. Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice. The King Arthur legend. The Tudors. Mr. Rochesters and Mr. Darcys are extremely rare these days. With a few exceptions, historical heroes are my favorites.
Romantic suspense or Romantic comedy?
Comedy. Guns give me the willies.
Straight or Curly?
Long and straight, parted in the middle, hippie-style.
Slow dance or Fast dance?
Now, this one is hard. Slow dancing is sexy, but fast dancing lets you really shake your booty. My favorite band in the whole world is Tower of Power, a group who’ve been playing funky, funky soul music for 45 years. I usually lose a pound or two during a Tower of Power concert. What is Hip?
Piercings or Tattoos?
Tattoos can be beautiful. Piercing, not so much.
My question to you…chocolate or red wine?
Alice Gaines writes ultra steamy romance and erotica in a number of genres. She’s published with Red Sage, Changeling Press, Harlequin Spice Briefs, Carina Press, and Avon Impulse, among others.
Alice lives in a funky old house in Oakland, California with a stray cat she adopted and a pet corn snake named Casper. When she’s not writing, she enjoys cooking and vegetable gardening, knitting and crocheting, and riding her exercise bicycle into imaginary sunsets. She recently took up writing hymns for her church.

Tawny,
Nice blog you have here. Thanks for having me!
Thanks so much for visiting, Alice
I’m excited about your latest releases!! Norah is right, your covers are gorgeous!!
Good answers, Alice! And great prize! I think I’ve got these on my Kindle, but the covers are so pretty!
As for the question, I’d definitely pick wine (red) over chocolate, unless I’m taking Tylenol like I am right now for sciatica, in which case it would have to be chocolate.
Ouch on the sciatica. Glad to hear from another wine lover.
Ooops, I think I just let my personal preference out of the bag.
Looks like I have some books to check out. They sound like something I’d love to read.
Tattoos can be real sexy on a guy.
Tough question because I do like red wine, but I’m going with chocolate. Especially if it’s drizzled over ice cream.
It’s hard to choose, isn’t it? Of course, red wine and chocolate go together. I hope you like the stories.
Wow, Tower of POwer! I haven’t heard that band in years! I had an 8-track with them, a couple actually. Wow, that’s sad on my part. I agree with you on tatoos – they can be sexy if not overdone. But piercings, eeeewww. Unfortunately, I can’t have either red wine or chocolate because they give me a migraine, although I do cheat with the chocolate. Red wine is 100% guaranteed to send my head into serious pain!
Migraines are the pits. I’m glad you cheat a little with the chocolate.
TOP’s album Soul Vaccination Live is kind of old now, but it has all their favorite songs recorded with great sound. Rediscover Tower of Power. You’ll be glad you did.
Disclaimer: I’m not related to the band.
Oh great Q&A today! Thanks for sharing Alice! Writing down your books on my list.
As for chocolate or red wine…. chocolate minus the wine for me!
Thanks, Coleen,
Everyone loves chocolate!
And the winner is….

ooh ooh ooh a threesome–Must Have!!
Pam! Hi
Hi, Pamela.
I love threesome’s, too.
I haven’t read those three, yet, Alice! So glad to know of them! I’ll take chocolate any day, specifically 70% dark chocolate. Yum! Unfortunately, I’m allergic to wine…
Tawny, Thanks for having Alice on your blog and grilling her with questions!
Hey Beth
. How are you doing? I loved having Alice visit-she had some fab answers!
I’m a plotter who outlines the novel before writing it. Different natures, unique approaches.
Chocolate wins for me.
Thanks for dropping by, JoAnn.
Hi, all.
I’ll be drawing a winner at around 5:00 Eastern. See you then!
And the winner is….
